MeadWestvaco Corporation and KapStone Paper and Packaging Corporation formally transferred the deed for the 39-plus acres of green park space at the corner of Remount Road and North Rhett Avenue donating them to the City of North Charleston, South Carolina.
“The park represents a commitment to our neighbors in North Charleston and Hanahan,” Ed Rose, president of MWV Specialty Chemicals Division, said. “The park has been and will continue to be a great place for families in the area.”
The park, to be formally known as MWV-KapStone Park, has been a public green space with recreational facilities since 1949. Under the terms of the agreement, the 39.374 acres of land will be owned by the City of North Charleston and recreationally shared with the City of Hanahan.
